Being Inquisitive

The art of being inquisitive

I am one of those people who can’t leave a stone unturned, a box unopened, a relationship without closure, a question unanswered. That is why I get so flustered sometimes when I can’t find a reasonable answer to a difficult question. Such is the case when it comes to “where do we come from?” “Is there a God?” “Who or what created all this?” “Who created God?” and so forth. You get the picture. As I said before, I lack the intelligence to even attempt to answer some of those questions. And I am very critical of those who answer the questions with fabricated, outlandish answers as is the case of religious people or “people of faith”.

Why do I feel this way? Because I can see that these people don’t possess any more intelligence than I do, as a matter of fact, by watching their actions, exposing their points of views and the things they believe to be true, I seriously question if they have any intelligence at all.

Lacking pragmatism and logic, a lot of people pass through life, or I should say: life passes through them and they live totally useless existences. A lot of it has to do with slovenly, lazy dispositions. It is a lot easier to accept an already “packaged” set of beliefs handed down by others than to think on your own.

Today I was at the supermarket behind a very beautiful, educated lady. She had a little girl in the cart with her. Somehow, the little girl got a hold of some candy and her mommy said she couldn’t have it. The little girl then went on to the very familiar “why?” routine.

Mom- “you can’t have the candy, if you eat it now you will not eat dinner”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “because dinner is an hour from now”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “Because that is the time we always eat”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “That is when daddy gets home from work hungry”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “Mommy loves you”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “because you are adorable”

Girl- “why?”

Mom- “because you ask too many questions, that’s why?

You get the picture? I don’t know about you, but I too went through that phase in my life, only I never came out of it.

We are guaranteed equal protection by the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. Free and equal people do not bargain for or prioritize our rights, so we are coming to DC this October 10-11th to demand equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states. Now.

On October 11th our march will begin at 12:00 noon and end on the west lawn of the Capitol building. Our rally will begin approximately at 2:00 p.m. with three hours of inspirational speeches and music. Click for a full schedule of the National Equality March weekend events including several workshops sponsored by national LGBT organizations. Click to view the march route and download a map for this event.

The march is not our final destination. It is our first step toward building a national grassroots network that will continue organizing until we have achieved full equality.
