Unlike what happened right after 9/11 when not just the American public stood solidly behind President Bush, so did most of the world, now things are different. Because these people are putting ideology before country, they are going to be the biggest critics of the President and the Democrats. In this case, their patriotism is going out the window.
Never mind that eight years of Bush drove this nation into ruin and debt, never mind that our
own security was greatly compromised because the Republicans were arrogant and did not engage in any efforts at diplomacy, instead, they did a lot of saber rattling and some aggression towards some countries that had done nothing to us.The Republicans got us into an unnecessary war neglecting the one in Afghanistan and now we are stuck with it. Make no mistake about it, if Bush had been a little more careful and less incompetent, our country would not be in the mess we are in.
When you talk about all these people complaining that President Obama is mortgaging the future of our children, they fail to mention that Bush and the Republicans did a pretty good job of that themselves with the debt they left. But worse, because of their systematic elimination of regulations, they put the economy on a tailspin to disaster. If President Obama is trying to fix all that, great amounts of money have to be injected into the economy, but don’t blame him and the Democrats for it, they didn’t create the problem, they only inherited it.

FREEDOM OF THE PRESS AND FOX
QUOTE OF THE DAY
There seems to be confusion in the minds of those at Fox that they are being attacked and the concept of freedom of speech is being trampled on. Make no mistake about it, they have a right to express their opinion, but they don’t have a right to call that opinion news.
“What’s most distinctive about the American press is not its freedom but its century-old tradition of independence—that it serves the public interest rather than those of parties, persuasions, or pressure groups. Media independence is a 20th-century innovation that has
never fully taken root in many other countries that do have a free press. The Australian-British-continental model of politicized media that Murdoch has applied at Fox is un-American, so much so that he has little choice but go on denying what he’s doing as he does it. For Murdoch, Ailes, and company, “fair and balanced” is a necessary lie. To admit that their coverage is slanted by design would violate the American understanding of the media’s role in democracy and our idea of what constitutes fair play. But it’s a demonstrable deceit that no longer deserves equal time.Whether the White House engages with Fox is a tactical political question. Whether we journalists continue to do so is an ethical one. By appearing on Fox, reporters validate its propaganda values and help to undermine the role of legitimate news organizations. Respectable journalists—I’m talking to you, Mara Liasson—should stop appearing on its programs. A boycott would make Ailes too happy, so let’s try just ignoring Fox, shall we? And no, I don’t want to come on The O’Reilly Factor to discuss it.”
Jacob Weisberg writing in Newsweek in a piece titled The O’Garbage Factor — Fox News isn’t just bad. It’s un-American.

Are we living longer?
A five-month longevity makeover, which started on a sub-zero January 2009 day in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and ended in mid-October, is called the AARP/Blue Zones Vitality Project, and was sponsored by a $750,000 grant from the United Health Foundation, according to ABC News. This project takes the "it takes a village" concept to the next level, pooh-poohing the idea that diet and exercise alone can help people get healthy. Instead, it's based on the belief that it takes the transformation of an entire community to make a difference.
There are areas in the world where one could find a concentration of elderly people who far exceed the centenarian benchmark. Medical authorities and scientists alike have been studying them for years in order to find out what are the reasons for their long lives.
My own mother is now 94 and going strong. She wears no glasses, tales no medicines, not even aspirin, has all of her teeth and worked full time as a seamstress until age 87. I have often questioned her long life and the living habits she has. Yes, my grandfather lived to age 92 but he didn’t die of natural causes. He was still at work delivering milk when some boys playing street stick ball were running and knocked him down. Grandfather Longino broke his hip and died a month later of peritonitis caused by intestinal blockage.
My mother, I have observed, is feisty, always has some issue to fight, always a cause célèbre,
Her diet is rather simple: she eats frugally; at breakfast half a cup of milk with a stream of Cuban coffee and one piece of toast without butter. For lunch it is toast again and another glass of warm milk and a banana. Dinner is rather meek, rice, beans and a very small portion of meat. She dislikes meat and often will not consume any more than a couple of ounces of it but she will accompany her meal with a glass of red wine at least three times a week (that is all we can afford now) she used to drink one glass per day.. She does not eat vegetables at all. Could her diet have anything to do with it?
