Do you believe in fairy tales? What is faith?

On Faith

I have often criticized those who have “faith”. Not that I question their right to have it, hell, I would even defend it with my life which is something they would not do for me. But having your right to your private beliefs is so much different than pushing them on everyone else. It is quite accepted for some of these people to go around proselytizing; they will try to convert you to their beliefs, even if they have to kill you in the process. That is totally unacceptable.

This lady wrote me an e-mail in Portuguese telling me how I had to be on the side of the devil because I didn’t believe in Jesus Christ. I wrote her back saying that the premise of hell and the devil is also unacceptable as something real or even remotely worth believing in. If you believe in the Scriptures and you take them literally, often taking what you want and is convenient and rejecting that which isn’t, then you have to be wrong. You might as well believe in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. They are equally outlandish and fabricated fairy tales.

The problem is that these people go about pushing their “faith” on everyone else with little regard or respect for privacy or the rights of others to be free to think for themselves. Because they are seldom opposed, they are emboldened and cocky. They become arrogant and even aggressive. Case in point: the Muslim Jihadists who would kill innocent human beings to achieve the domination of their faith on the rest of the world.

Fundamentalist Christians are not far behind. The only thing that separates them from the Jihadists is that their clerics have not asked them yet to strap a bomb on to their bodies and blow it up in a crowded market or subway. But we have already seen some crimes committed by these religious fanatics, as they are targeting doctors who perform abortions.

I will repeat what I have said a few times on this blog: I don’t really give a shit if you chose to wallow in a mud puddle of ignorance and superstition, but I refuse to be dragged down there with you.

Bitching about Google graphic program

I am generally satisfied by the service they are providing, however, I can’t express the frustrations I have when trying to put together a posting. It is infuriating because it does not allow you to make adjustments and it is all screwed up. How? Type faces and sizes appear different than what they should be, the photos don’t fall in place and it takes a lot of effort and time to work it where it is even acceptable. There is type overlapping type and blocks or whole paragraphs overlapping photos. I haven’t found the way to overcome that. Maybe it is just me.

I was an art director and graphic designer. In the old days, we only had PageMaker. Then came Quark and a whole bunch of other programs that made more sense and made the work of the graphic designer simpler and more accurate.

This Google program is not anywhere near, not even the archaic PageMaker, which was at the time the latest thing and now we find it quaint and obsolete. I wish they could improve the program.
