Now, if you had any doubts who the Republicans are representing, this is one good example of not just how out of touch they are but also who they owe their allegiance to, it is definitely not their constituents.
The Republicans are now leading in an effort to prevent any regulations to be enacted that would provide a system of check and balances to prevent an economic meltdown like the one we just averted. Think about it folks, the reason this economic crisis came about is because Republicans eliminated systematically all the laws and regulations that had been in place since the Great Depression, it was done to prevent precisely that, a meltdown of the banking and stock market systems. 
To hear him talk, he is expressing the idea that he is on a noble mission to defeat the evil forces of socialism. It is like he is on a holy crusade, a very commendable enterprise.
I want to say to him: “Tell me moron, who are you supposed to be meeting with, your constituents or the lobbyists?

So you don’t believe Obama is a great man? How about a great President?
I am a firm believer that Obama is a great man; however, I am unsure as to whether he is going to be looked upon historians as a great President.
From the very first time I saw him deliver his famous speech at the Democratic National Convention, I said to myself: “this man is going to be President someday”. I recognized immediately the qualities that make a great man. Put aside his ability to deliver a speech because that is a talent. We are talking about the intellect and the qualities that make a man great… Perhaps those very qualities are the factors that will prevent him from being a great President. Let’s face it, the man is pragmatic, intelligent, coherent and articulate.
If you are a politician, it is no secret that you have to at times resort to very sordid tactics and even engage in unethical and controversial actions. President Obama, because he has a very deep rooted sense of fairness and compassion is not going to engage in those.
If we look at what would have happened should McCain had been elected President, we are willing to speculate that right now we would be in a financial crisis worse than we experienced during the Great Depression. We also know that our prestige and standing in the international arena would not have improved considerably and it would have been an extension of the very unpopular George W. Bush international policies, devoid of diplomacy and filled with arrogance, bullish and boorish behavior.
The monumental mess Obama’s predecessor left and the legacy of failure the Republicans handed to President Obama would have been impossible for any President to overcome unless he was an extraordinary man. It is not debatable that Obama inherited a hot potato and he had to turn things around. Some things he already had been able to resolve. Others remain in the process of improving or are still looming as potential headaches. But one thing is for sure, had McCain won we would not have seen any efforts on Health Care or Energy legislation.
Rumors can be harmful
Back in November 24 I posted a blog about a conjecture that Sarah Palin was not a natural born US citizen. I contemplated the possibility of a rumor I had heard that a certain Mrs. Wilhemina Stark a midwife nurse now living in Calgary recounts of the delivery of a baby girl in rural Alberta about the time of Sarah’s birth and she says that it was indeed Sarah Palin’s mother who gave birth to a child she delivered.
As a result I have received several E-mails requesting that I confirm or deny this rumor. Now, isn’t that peculiar? If I were a Teabagger Birther I would not do such a thing, why bother? It is serving a purpose and it is to harm and discredit someone we all despise.
So, I am going to follow the same Republican, Teabagger, Birther attitude. I won’t deny the rumor that Sarah Palin was born in Southern Manitoba, just South of Calgary and since she was born at home there is no birth certificate to prove the opposite. Her parents did move to Idaho shortly thereafter and registered her birth there.
