I was reading some comments on one of the blogs and it irritated me to see how some morons expressed themselves in this fashion.
It does seem that these people are trying to appear as if they were better than or superior to some of us. We all agree that smoking is not healthy, that it may bring some serious health issues and the argument has always been that smokers die of some catastrophic illness that will cost society money.
That is debatable because as far as I know, unless you die peacefully in your sleep, everyone dies of a catastrophic illness and ends up running hospital and medical expenses in the thousands of dollars, smokers and non smokers alike. The sad part is that smokers will die sooner while non-smokers will live ten or twenty years longer, therefore causing a drain in the system by drawing Social Security and being the recipients of Medicare long after smokers have died. My own mother is an example of this. At age 94 she started to get Social Security when she was 62 and is still healthy. Hell, she has all her teeth, wears no glasses and takes no medications. Add up the money she has received and measure it against the bill that her best friend had when she died at age 59. Her friend
was a chain smoker.
So, in financial terms, the argument holds no water.
I had an incident just last week when I went to a local restaurant and had a lovely dinner inside. After dinner, we ordered some cognacs and went out to the covered patio to enjoy the cognac accompanied by some fine cigars my cousin had sent me from the Dominican Republic.
We were sitting in one of the tables furthest to anyone and on the edge when this very attractive young man who was holding hands with another one, comes to tell us that the smoke was bothering him. I thought he had a lot of nerve, since that is a designated smoking area and we could not smoke inside. I told him that we were in a smoking area and perhaps he should reconsider sitting outside. He was irate, he went on a rant about how inconsiderate and what a horrible habit it was, how unhealthy for the smokers and for those nearby exposed to second-hand smoke. Then he said the cliché that just set me off: “You are a very hot man, but I wouldn’t want to kiss you because it would be like kissing a dirty ashtray”
I answered: “What makes you think I would even want to kiss you? With your attitude problem I would not kiss you if you were Michelangelo’s David reincarnated; and you say it would be like kissing an ashtray? You probably have no objections to somebody ejaculating in your mouth, and that is like licking a urinal, so fuck off and go inside where there is nobody smoking, you hysterical, control freak”
When you listen to all goodie goodie two shoes...it is all about you being controlling...you can't discriminate in society because of race, religion or origin so the smokers seem to be the most logical group we can all safely discriminate against and get away with it because it really is bad for you. Somehow you have a need to feel superior, better than? Smokers are now the bottom of the feeding chain, the bottom of the totem pole.
But there is mouthwash and if you are a smoker and considerate you don't smoke indoors, even in your own house you go to the porch, and you use mouth wash.
I am Cuban and I can tell you that a good cigar now and then is one of life's pleasures.
Like kissing an ashtray...uhm..that was a very successful advertising campaign years ago...so much so that some are still repeating it like parrots; yet they have no qualms about having somebody ejaculate in their mouths...isn't that like licking a urinal?
Think about what you say.
Excesses
Back on September 3rd I wrote in my blog about the excesses of the largest swimming pool in the world located in Chile and this sports car that costs an arm and a leg. I also wrote about the tallest building in the world in Dubai.
Now we find that all the buildings in Dubai are mostly empty and now the loan is due on December 14th and they are not going to be able to pay it. I am not happy to see them fail, but this is one of those “I told you so” moments. The king of that little country has an ego bigger than their budget possibilities and his ambitions to make his little kingdom the best has backfired on him.
As far as big egos go, his ought to deflate more dramatically because of the magnitude of all the projects he embarked upon, and he was living in a bubble created by the demand for oil.
