I had this lawyer friend and we became very close until I started to notice some very peculiar behavior patterns in him. He was at times hysterical and when he went out of town he would ask me to come and feed his dog and take him out for a walk.
The dog was just as neurotic as he and he didn’t like me. I think the feeling was mutual but we tolerated each other as I was serving a function and the dog understood that getting fed and taken out for a walk entailed allowing me to hold the leash and lead him.
My friend was a middle age lawyer, handsome, some would even say he was hot. He was the hairy bear type but had thinning hair in his head. He agonized over this and also agonized over his dog which he loved more than anything in this world.
The first time I came to his house the dog just came over and sniffed me…he very reluctantly accepted my prescence.
The first day when Bertrand went away, I opened the front door and I thought the fucking bitch was going to attack me. After much barking and showing of the teeth, I went to the kitchen to open a can of dog food and I held it up for the dog to see. I spoke to him calmly and said: “you see this fucking food? Well, if you don’t cooperate I will put it in the refrigerator and leave. You are not going to get a fucking bite to eat. I will be back tomorrow and if you chose you can pee and shit on the carpet for all I care”
If the dog understood I can’t really ascertain, but he did stay quiet as if assessing the situation
, then wagged his tail and laid on the floor to allow me to make the decision. I took the leash, put it on him and he was cooperative. He knew I meant business and he also knew I was not like his neurotic owner. After the walk, I fed him and he even let me pet him. What a change!
Bertrand was one of these types who thinks that his dog is a person. I think he carried it a bit too far when he would appear at the bar with his dog in a very ridiculous outfit. I do think that animals sense when they are being made fun of and when they are forced to wear something as humiliating as a hat with flowers or some other stupid nonsense. I can’t see why some owners put bandanas on dogs…is that supposed to make them butcher? Or are they projecting a desire to be more masculine?.
You have to keep in mind that some of these animals are very intelligent. I would say that their I.Q equals that of a 2 year old. These animals have feelings, empathy, the capacity to love and they sense when they are humiliated.
I am not saying that if you live in a cold climate you shouldn’t get one of those sweater types for your dog. That will protect the dog from the elements. But what I am saying is that if you force a dog to wear something stupid they will feel stupid. I think animals have dignity and this is a great violation of their noble and natural character.
My friend’s dog simply walked into traffic one day and got run over by a car. I do think he committed suicide.

hahaha funny post! yeah, I guess it's cruelty against animals. We are also forced to wear ridiculous stuff when we are babies but at least we can learn to talk and complain!
