Home of Sam, Liberty, Justice, the free and the brave.
In this
bountiful land we have outstanding natives like everybody’s Uncle Sam. Residents
of this fair soil are Lady Liberty and blindfolded Lady Justice. It is the land
of the free and the home of the brave. We make those claims not as a boast but
as a fact, as we have proven throughout the history of this country that we
fight to our deaths to keep our freedoms and to nurture and pamper those three
relatives of ours: Uncle Sam, mother Liberty and auntie Justice.
Americans have always been known for their generosity, their
willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need…here and abroad. We have a
tradition of collective compassion; we use our government to carry out our
wishes and to do the deeds that we can’t perform individually. We do so because
we the people give those we elect to public office our consent to represent us.
But just as we are known for our generosity, we are also
fair and just; we have it even written down in our most precious document:
“That all men were created equal”
You would think that with our country’s credentials in
fairness, justice and compassion that there wouldn’t be anybody living in
America, enjoying her opportunities and bounties; not respect and revere those
principles as well as adore those relatives.
And yet, there are people who will betray all that we stand
for, all that we are in exchange for the almighty dollar. We have always known
that greed has no conscience and you might expect that to be present in a
non-human entity like a corporation…but never would I have thought that
Americans, who have reaped the riches of this nation, enjoyed the freedoms and
did so from our collective hard work and dedication…that these people would
actually turn their backs on their Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty and aunt Justice so
they can make one more buck.
Their callousness, insensitivity, selfishness and greed know
no boundaries; they would sell their own mothers if the price was right. They
have forsaken and betrayed our trust and slapped our country in its face.
The next few months are going to be crucial in determining
if these selfish traitors will be able to overpower the great majority of us
who do love Uncle Sam, Liberty and Justice. It is going to come down to
delineate once and for all what kind of country we want to be and what kind of
people we are.
If the might of money can succeed in capturing the power of
government even more, we most likely will see a totalitarian, militaristic,
theocratic tyranny. Sadly, there will not even be funerals held for our dear
Uncle Sam who was murdered by them, or a wake for the passing of Lady Liberty who
died for lack of health care and we will never see a memorial service for our
aunt Justice who perished in the collapse of a derelict bridge, no requiems, no
eulogies, not even an obituary.
