We seem to be getting an
awful lot of those these days and most are involved in politics and have gained
a lot of power.
It is not surprising that some of
these fringe religions demand total and unconditional adherence from their
followers. We see it manifested in their unwillingness to serve their country,
to celebrate birthdays or national holidays, to dismiss all social activities
as too secular and injurious to their faith.
When I think
of these assholes taking advantage of our country’s opportunities, enjoying the
freedoms America offers, partaking of the freedom of religion concept and yet
they are not willing to do one fucking thing to pay back or to demonstrate any
kind of gratefulness to this country of ours…of course I get pissed…I don’t get
pissed because they have a religion…we all have that right, I get indignant
that they have no social conscience..
But it is the whole idea, the concept
that these religions have adopted that their followers have to submit and
completely surrender their minds and souls to that religion that I object. It
goes so far as to even forsake their obligations as parents when one of their
offspring or relative needs a blood transfusion. When you deny someone medical
care because your religion prohibits it then it is clearly a murderous act and
should be punishable to the full extent of the law.
These
religions are so jealous of any celebration that does not include anything
church related that even birthdays are not observed along with national
holidays and important dates like wedding anniversaries and the like…that, in
my book is taking it to a ridiculous extreme.
It is seen in other religions in a
much milder form…be it by demanding a certain way of dress or donning some garment
of clothing that indicates their submission to said religion like some headgear
or article of clothing. These religions will tell you what to eat, when to
pray, when to rejoice and not dance and even when you can fuck or perhaps deny
you sex altogether.
I often pose
this question: What if anything is worthwhile building or preparing for a
future that will never come?
According to these religious fanatics the world is
going to end the day after tomorrow and it is futile to build roads and bridges
or educate our children if that end is so near.
I will say
this as I have said before…I don’t give a flying fuck if you believe in little
green unicorns from Tasmania and you hang from the chandelier to worship them.
But when you gain power, when you get together with
others of the same mindset and begin to make laws that affect me, that is when
I put my foot down in the most vigorous fashion, as if stepping on a cucaracha
which in my book they are.
Free airtime for the religious
right fanatics?
It is not enough to own hundreds of cable television stations that carry right-wing, religious fanatical messages…they own them and want more…they want the rest of us to pay our taxes for public television and give them free airtime.
Do you think public television should
give free airtime to Religious Right propaganda?
Neither did two senior employees of Alabama Public Television who objected to airing a TV series produced by right-wing pseudo-historian David Barton -- a Religious Right activist who supports imprisoning gay people.
But when they spoke up, they were fired by the Republican-controlled Alabama Educational Television Commission.
Public television is beloved for featuring entertaining, educational content not hatred and lies.
Tell the Alabama Educational Television Commission: Keep Religious Right propaganda off public television.
