WHY DO I GENERALIZE ABOUT REPUBLICANS I WAS ASKED

Not all Republicans are heartless, radical and illogical the e-mail said

In Spanish we have a saying: “Tanta culpa tiene el que mata la cabra como el que le aguanta las patas” (Just as guilty is he who holds the goat’s legs as the one who actually kills it) This is particularly true to those who consider themselves moderate Republicans and who don’t hold those far out, radical and destructive views and yet they remain silent.

But let’s put it into perspective, those Republicans are now in a minority, they are drowned out by the shrill and vigorous right wingers; an ideology that just a few years ago was considered so far right and so extreme that it was dismissed or made fun of.

But it is incumbent of those who see themselves in that position, that of sounding off whenever the Republican Party does something outlandish or insists on adopting some askew ideology over reason and logic to protest, to disagree. If these people remain silent and even cooperate with the rest of those extremists then they are just as guilty by the mere fact that they are holding the goat’s legs…in this case the dagger killing the goat is like that which kills democracy and the middle class, it is the wound that will prove lethal to a great country.

We are all familiar with how the majority of Republicans pay homage to the likes of Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh and Grover Norquist…not just pay their respects and display admiration for them but they are downright intimidated by the likes of these assholes. We have seen it time and time again whenever a moderate Republican goes off message and somehow steps on the toes of these powerful individuals…those who dare to confront them will end up apologizing and running into obscurity with their tail between their legs.

It is certain that some Republicans do see how it is wrong to tax the rich at a much lower rate than the regular folks; it is obvious to them that not only does it cause inequality but it deprives the government of revenue. We also suspect that a lot of these Republicans realize that this voter disenfranchising that is being conducted is an absolute affront to the democratic process. We also know by just watching the polls how people feel about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid…they favor it and would not like it if these were eliminated…yet the Republican moderates say nothing….they are complicit, they are just as guilty of holding the goat’s legs.

So when I generalize and I say Republicans, I mean ALL REPUBLICANS because so far I have yet to see one who has the cojones to stand up to the likes of Norquist or Limbaugh.
