Yet, one could argue that the Second Amendment should
also allow students to pack weapons.
Have we as a society reached such a level of
insanity? Is anybody out there in their right mind thinking that the answer to
the gun problem is more guns?

And yet, just yesterday, in Taft, Calif. -- A
16-year-old student armed with a shotgun walked into class in a rural
California high school on Thursday and shot one student, fired at another and
missed, and then was talked into surrendering by a teacher and another staff
member, officials said. Why it wasn’t a gun carrying teacher but persuasion
that made him surrender. What would have happened if the teacher had been
packing? Possibly the attacker may have been shot but then again, a student or
two would have been accidentally shot as well.
Is this what we want in our public schools? Is
this what parents will allow and pay for all the additional training, weapons
purchases and if armed guards are placed in each school in the country…is the
NRA prepared to bear the burden of that cost or is the taxpayer going to be
stuck with that bill?
